Book stand tribute

My modest tribute to a GREAT artist who is sadly no longer physically among us. What he left behind is an immense body of timeless art, much of it collected in an exceptional publication by Taschen.

The modular book stand shown below was designed specifically for that volume.

The shape of terror

One of the creatures born from the mind of Hans Rudolf Giger and now universally known is that cheerful little Xenomorph, the great friend of Sigourney Weaver, alias Lieutenant Ellen Ripley. Much of the celebrated Swiss artist’s work features beings on the edge of terror: hybrids of human and machine emerging from dark settings dominated by the non-colour par excellence, black. I tried to condense all of this into a stand dedicated to the magnificent Taschen book, elegantly bound by Mauro Loce. Its imposing size deserves to be displayed and to become the focal point of an interior intended for many, but not for everyone. M A

Abyss.

Entering the dark abyss of Giger’s mind is an experience that leaves its mark — and if it does not, you may well have a problem — because it means observing the countless nuances of a truly unique parallel reality.

Unique details

The construction allows every detail of the modular structure to be appreciated. Its celebratory forms pay tribute to a great Artist whose work will always remain with us.

Easy assembly.

The modular stand is very easy to assemble without tools. When dismantled, it takes up little space; when assembled, it is extremely stable when consulting large, heavy books.

A project to develop?

We begin with function and reality.

Every commission starts with listening, measurements, priorities and a clear scope. The first conversation establishes how to proceed.
