Designing today with a sustainable design approach involves considering the environmental, social, and economic impact of a product throughout its entire life cycle. In my table, I have used only eco-friendly or recyclable materials such as Dekton® or Silestone® for the top, wood from FSC certified plantations, and iron painted with non-toxic products. Here are the rules I refer to every time I pick up a pencil:Create long-lasting products that can be easily repaired, thus reducing waste. Facilitate the maintenance and replacement of worn parts. Minimize production waste and encourage recycling and reuse of materials. Design with a circular economy approach, where end-of-life products can be reused or recycled.Consider the working conditions and well-being of the communities involved in production. Promote fair and sustainable practices throughout the entire supply chain.Design products that can be easily disassembled to facilitate recycling and waste management.Balance technological innovation with environmental responsibility. Develop new products and services that meet people's needs without compromising future resources.Adopting a sustainable design approach not only contributes to preserving the environment but can also offer long-term economic benefits. Designing with sustainability in mind is essential to ensure a greener and healthier future for generations to come.
